Training & Human Resource Development

Local technical manpower development was one of the objectives of establishing the Centre. The manpower development initiatives include:-

• DOCTORAL (Ph.D) PROGRAMMES:

The Centre is affiliated to the Pondicherry University for Doctoral degrees in Microbiology & Entomology. The first doctoral student from this Centre was awarded Ph.D in the year 2004. The following are the Scientists who are the recognized guides:

• SCHEDULED TRAINING PROGRAMMES:

Scheduled training workshops are conducted every year. Training programmes for the year 2007-2008 are:

• Hands-on training workshops on conventional and molecular tools for the diagnosis of leptospirosis

• Training on outbreak investigations and epidemic preparedness

• Training in Laboratory diagnosis and characterization of diarrhoeal pathogens.

• TRAINING OF UG AND PG STUDENTS:

The Centre imparts training to students undergoing Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Microbiology, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology under different Universities. Usually applications received from the candidates are scrutinized and short listed in April (for training in May-Jul) and October (for training in Dec-May).

A limited number of deserving candidates are provided custom-training on case to case basis.
